New J Street: Venues to open Monday
As Aramark packs up and makes room for Sodexho, J Street will reopen today to feature the venues that will remain under the new food provider.
Wendy’s, Einstein’s Bagels, Jamba Juice, District Market, and the Ames Dining Hall on Mount Vernon will reopen beginning Monday, June 3, according to Nancy Haaga, director of auxillary services at GW. Construction will take place throughout the summer for Quizno’s, Chik Fil-A, and Cyclone Salads.
The District Market, which will be a shadow of what it was before, will open where the Hot or Not used to be. Originally, this area was to be used for a Starbucks while the DM would be housed where Jamba Juice is. The University and Sodexho decided to close the Starbucks and keep the Jamba Juice.
Grounds for Change will replace Starbucks. The Seattle-based coffee shop is a “socially responsible, environmentally respectful” coffee shop, said Haaga. It will be housed in Columbian Square, which is now completely dominated by tables, chairs and CNN. Grounds for Change will also replace Java City in Duques Hall and on Mount Vernon.
Stay tuned for later today for more information about the new J Street, including information about the new District Market.
