Maria Shriver and daughter visit campus
Maria Shriver, the wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R), toured GW on Monday with her daughter and family friends, local media reported on Tuesday. The tour was confirmed by a GW spokesperson.
Sarah Lefferts ’09 and Drew Rifkin ’08 were selected last week to give a student-led tour of campus to Katherine Schwarzenegger and her mother and family friend George Kieffer and his son Geordie Kieffer. Katherine and Geordie go to high school together.
Lefferts said the mother and daughter were “pretty positive” after the tour. “They were honestly some of the most attentive visitors I’ve met,” said Lefferts. “Right from the start, both parents and students asked great questions and actually listened and responded to our answers.”
Shriver’s mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, came to the admissions office, but left before the walking tour, said Lefferts.
Lefferts added that the Shrivers had already visited at least one other school in the area that day and went to another one immediately after GW.
“From what I can tell, they were more interested in GW after the tour and were excitedly comparing it to other options they’d seen,” she said. “My impression was that the students like what they heard and went into the information session with the admissions director excited about the possibility of looking further into GW.”
