Former CCAS Dean charged with DUI
Former Columbian College Dean William Frawley was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
A police release says that Frawley, who is now president of the University of Mary Washington, refused to take a DUI breath test when he was pulled over.
Wednesday’s arrest came after he had been hospitalized Tuesday for an earlier car accident, according to a UMW press release.
“The Board of Visitors of the University of Mary Washington wants to express our deepest concerns and support for President Frawley and his family at this very difficult time,” the release says.
“The Board…asks the students, faculty, staff, and friends in the community to join us in our thoughts and prayers for Dr. Frawley’s complete recovery and for his wife and family.”
His wife, Maria Frawley, is an Associate Professor of English at GW.
GW’s Office of Media Relations said it is their policy to not comment on the personal matters of former employees.
