GW reacts to Va. Tech shootings
The University is on “heightened alert” after a gunman killed at least 32 people in dorms and classrooms at Virginia Tech.
GW Campus Alert sent out a blast e-mail at 2:30 p.m. reminding students and faculty to stay cautious of suspicious activity and to program UPD’s number into their mobile phones.

As you may have heard, a tragedy has occurred today, Monday, April 16, 2007, on he Blacksburg, Va., campus of Virginia Tech. Media reports indicate that numerous students have been killed and others injured and that a suspected shooter is dead. While this appears to be an isolated event on the Virginia Tech campus, as always, GW is taking appropriate steps to help ensure the well-being of our community.
As a result, GW’s University Police Department is on heightened alert. Students, faculty, and staff are asked to exercise appropriate caution and report any suspicious action to University Police at 202-994-6111. We also recommend programming this number into your cell phone to expedite reporting of suspicious activity. In addition, if you have not already done so, please visit the Campus Advisories Web site (www.gwu.edu/~gwalert) and sign up for Alert DC so that you can be notified immediately of important announcements in our area.
